Think it’s hard to look perfect and put-together on a daily basis? Imagine how tough it is for a leading TV actress. In between her busy filming schedule and trying to cook her own meals, Jesseca Liu make it all look effortless. We hit her up for some tips on totally owning it.
When did you start using skincare?
My mum’s a facialist so when I was in my teens, she gave me a lot of products to try. Obviously, I was too young to understand all the steps and it was too troublesome, but I always remember her saying, “Don’t leave the house without putting SPF on.”. That was when I started applying sunblock regularly. Now that I think about it, I’ve got to thank her for the constant reminders!
No wonder you’ve got great skin! How has it changed over time?
When I was younger, it was very dry and dull because I used to play sports and spent a lot of time in the outdoors. Now, I visit Estetica monthly for hydrating treatments and I can see and feel the differences.
What’s your secret to good skin?
I stick with products and treatments that work for me. There are a lot of skincare no-nos but the only thing that I really can’t give up is coffee. I must have a cup (no milk, or or sugar) every morning. It helps take away the puffiness because it’s really important not to look ‘bloated’ when I’m filming. I also don’t eat most meat, so my diet mostly consists of seafood and vegetables. As far as possible, I try to shop for my ingredients and cook my own meals.
Tell us your biggest skin woe.
Puffiness! I love to drink water, especially before bedtime, and it always gives me puffy eyes in the morning and that take two hours to go away. I use Estetica’s est.Lab’s OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence and the thermal eye mask every night–they nix puffiness brilliantly!
Have you ever done anything crazy for the sake of beauty?
Hmm, nothing too crazy, but I went to a public onsen for the first time when I was filming in Taiwan. I went with my friend actress Eelyn Kok and my sister. We were reluctant at first but still went ahead. In the end, my skin felt very smooth and we heard that the aunties there visit every day to soak. It’s their secret to good skin.
